Dilip Ranade was born in 1950, finished Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Sir J.J.School of Arts Mumbai in 1971. He has received Indo-US sub commission grant to further studies in Museology in USA in 1984. He has delivered several slide lectures on ‘Portraiture’ and ‘Techniques of Diorama making’ and also at the Hongik University, Seoul Korea 2003 titled ‘Changing Realty and Contemporary Museum’. He has held many solo shows: 1999 at Pundole Art Gallery; 1978, 1980 & 2004 at the Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai. He has held several group shows 1972 at Jehangir Art Gallery & Kunika Art Gallery Delhi; 1974 at Astitva Max Muller Bhavan Mumbai; 1979,81,89,96 at Pundole Art Gallery; 1999 Cymroza Art Gallery & 2003 Total Museum at Seoul, Korea. Currently working as Senior Curator, European Paintings at Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai.
