Born in 1974, Avijit Dutta received his Bachelor of Visual Art in Painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta, in 2001. He was given an award for the best work in watercolour for the year 1995 & 1996 from the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata & a Certificate of Merit in 1997-98 from Rabindra Bharati University. He has held several Group and Solo Shows all over India.

In his quest for human expressions, Avijit has drawn up his personal feelings into his realistic, figurative work. His style is a tempera technique on canvas with various experimental textures, and he manages to capture the various facets of humanity with ease & lyricism.
