ABOUT HIS WORK
A man of few words, his creations also reflects the same trait; he believes if it can be said in one word then why use the entire sentence? He is not here to narrate a story through his works but rather represent the essential – the essence of life, nature but maybe using these or any other word would be restricting his repertoire. The works are not about one or the other aspect of life, but of the entirety of the experience.
Rudrawar while speaking about his works is talking of the process. The gradual changes ……. Changes of the phases of the moon…. The changes in the tides of the sea , are some reference points for the artist to express his thought process.
His paintings are shorn of any superfluous forms and are the bare essentials required to convey his experiences. They are minimalist. Few forms recur within the space and the entire body of work. Seemingly static, but embedded in each is an energy. Energy not waiting to burst, but an energy derived from mediations. Mediation, meditation, concentration, a sensitive rendering of what is experienced in the silence of mind. Sensitive to the space it occupies, the space it doesn’t occupy the space that it is. Form and space….space and form, the eternal quest to find the perfect balance, a preoccupation with Rudrawar. Pre-occupied he may be but his paintings are liquid and flow easily….rhythmic encounters of subtle nuances.
