Born in Patiala in 1949, he completed a five-year diploma course in Applied Art at the Government College of Arts & Crafts, Chandigarh. He has participated in important exhibitions like Gallery Dalichew (1974) and Kutturevein Herdecke (1975) both in Germany. Contemporary Art Exhibition, London (1988), Tokyo Biennale (1984), 15th International Art Exhibition, Tokyo, Festival of India, Moscow, 6th Cleveland Biennale, UK (1983), 2nd Asian Art Show Fukuoka, Japan (1985), Seoul Contemporary Art Asian Show, South Korea (1986), Art Mosaic, Calcutta-Mumbai-Delhi 1990. He won the National Award (1976) and the Sanskriti award (1982-83). His work is featured in the collections of NGMA and Lalit Kala Academi, New Delhi, Museum of Non-Aligned Countries, Yugoslavia, India House, Paris, Beckett Gallery, Canada. He lives and works in Mumbai.
