Born in Mysore in 1941, he studied at the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai. He has regularly participated in the National Exhibition of Art and in exhibitions organized by the Academy of Fine Arts, Calcutta, the Hyderabad Art Society and the Bombay Art Society. He has held several solo shows in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi and in Canada, America and Germany. He has participated in various group exhibitions among them Contemporary Indian Art, Norway, Denmark, Belgium (1967), Paris Biennale (1968), Second Biennale, Cuba (1986) and the International Exhibition of Drawing, Yugoslavia (from 1972). A recipient of the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award in 1967, his works are exhibited in the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, Lalit Kala Adademi, New Delhi and the Safdurjung Museum, Hyderabad. He has traveled widely in the US, Britain and China at the invitations of the respective Governments. S.G. Vasudev lives and works in Bangalore. Vasudev won the National Academy Award in 1967. He graduated from the Government School of Arts, Madras. Vasudev with his colleagues and teachers founded 'Cholamandal Artists Village' on the outskirts of Madras in 1966. He received awards from the State Academies of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Vasudev has exhibited in many International exhibitions such as Paris Biennale, Biennale Cuba, Drawing Internationala, Yugoslavia, The New South Contemporary Paintings and Sculpture in U.K. He has had solo shows in USA, Canada, Germany and in all the major cities in India. Vasudev's works are in the collection of various public and private institutions such as National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi, etc.... He has traveled widely in the USA, Britain and China at the invitations of the respective governments.
