"The entanglements of lines, ground textures and blots in Jayshree Chakravarty's painting bring the actual to the threshold of abstraction and let the abstract exude properties of the real. Charting elusive yet attention demanding maps of human memory, she layers and enmeshes de-concretised vectors of pathways, plans, encephalographic records and scribbling of workds together with barely recognizable residues of figures and buildings, traceries of vegetation, rays of light, waves of air and mood surface and blend to turn into nealy concrete impressions on the mind that nevertheless ever away if asking to be defined" (Marta Jakimowicz, Towards Abstraction, Bodhi Art and Threshold Art Galolery exhibition catalogue, New Delhi 2005, not paginated.
