Datta Bansode was born in 1969 at Latur, Maharashtra, he did graduate Diploma in Art at College of Art, Pune in 1991 followed by Diploma in Advanced Education (Art) at Sir J.J.School of Arts in 1992. He participated in a number of group shows at Jehangir Art Gallery '93; Nehru Centre Art Gallery '94; and Leela Kempinski '95; Auction of Art for Heart's Sake, Mumbai and held his first solo show in 1997 at Art Gallery, Nehru Centre. In 1998, he participated in major group show sponsored by British Airways in Mumbai and another in London. He held his second solo show at the Jehangir Art Gallery in 1999, which was a turning point for him. Datta has thereafter participated in all the major camps and shows sponsored by the Goenka's and "Harmony" of Reliance Industries. He held his third solo show at 51J Gallery, Mumbai. He has been participating in the various auctions held by Bowrings, Concern India, Save the Children, Saffron Art, Akakansha and others. In 2003 he participated in Le Royal Meridien Camp and The Oberoi Camp organised by Gallery Beyond and Gallery Art Resource Trust, Mumbai. In 2003, held a solo show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. He lives and works as a lecturer in Mumbai. STATEMENT The line, which is Datta's forte, does almost everything in his painting. It is the life breath of his paintings. His palette is black and white, rather harsh, yet pulsating with energy. The figures in the paintings, weightless in the frame, convey much of the tension, the heart and energy of the world in which they once moved or perhaps will move some day.... Gallery Beyond
