STATEMENT My recent works: are probably the results of a thinking process on two levels. On the one hand I am attempting to negotiate a problematic present in the realm of the imagination. On the other hand, the images are connected with Indian art history. From the late 19th century until the 1980s, one of the dominant and recurring themes in art history is the question and inquiry into identity and its relationship with tradition and modernity. Different groups as well as individuals were engaged with these issues, consciously or otherwise I am interested in how these groups and individuals evolved different trajectories and in the myths that were created. How critical were they of the traditions they were evoking? In that sense, the search for me is about identifying / addressing one%u2019s often precarious relationship within the dynamics of a cultural space.
