STATEMENT: BLAZING TALENT IN A DARK CAVE.... Pandit Khairnar belongs to a generation of young painters, which is set to revolutionize our age-old concepts of art. In the hurly-burly of the modern art world, this generation patently confronts the risks of neglect. But Khairnar shows boldness and innovation in a distinct manner. Colour speaks a highly idiosyncratic language in his paintings. Paint is the single instrument with the help of which the orchestrates space. He uses dark colours with a unique confidence; he does not bother about the normal features of a painting (e.g.: textures) as if they would encroach upon his blazing central concept. Khairnar comes from a village farmer family. He is typical of the talent thrown up by the Maharashtrian mofussil. He has appeared in the Fourth Biennial of Bhopal%u2019s Bharat Bhavan. He has had many other fruitful group shows. He has won major awards. Pandit Khairnar will never look back.... D. Nadkarni, Mumbai 1996.
