LALU PRASAD SHAW was born in 1937 at Suri, West Bengal, he graduated from the Government College of Arts, Calcutta. A member of the Society of Contemporary Artists, Calcutta, he has had several solo exhibitions in New Delhi, Calcutta and Chennai and has also participated in-group exhibitions in Prague and Texas. A recipient of the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award in 1971, the Birla Academy of Art and Culture Award (1976-78), his works can be seen in the National Gallery and the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. Today, one of the foremost artist of Bengal, he lives and works from Santiniketan.
